Observing the Faiths, July 8: 'Tacos and Tunes' benefit scheduled for Tuesday
LA CANADA FLINTRIDGE
La Canada Presbyterian Church will hold a "Tacos & Tunes" benefit concert Tuesday, from 5:30 p.m. through 7:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.
Featured will be award-wining vocalist and children's television host Mary Rice Hopkins, along with "Puppets with a Heart" by Darcie Maze.
The concert, with free tacos donated by Los Gringos Restaurant of La Canada Flintridge, will raise money to support youth traveling to Kenya this summer with Discover the World, an organization supporting orphanages in Kenya.

Rev. John Long to officiate at Praise Alive
Praise Alive Worship Center, 201 S. New Ave, Monterey Park, holds services with Pastor John Long at 10 a.m. Sundays and 7 p.m. Wednesdays. Events for July include Cory's Kitchen on Thursdays 6-8 p.m. VBS "PandaMania" runs all this week.

Sunset service planned at St. James United
A Saturday Sunset Service will be held at St. James United Methodist Church at 7:30 p.m. on July 23. This special event will include special music, teachings and worship experiences. The Reverend Gary Barbaree will lead this new monthly Neighborhood Sunset Service.
At 6 p.m., intern chaplain Toni Gilyard will be facilitating the monthly Movement of the Spirit Gathering in the church's lounge. Various artists and poets will be sharing selected pieces. New works will also be premiered.

Calvary offers programs for all ages
Calvary Presbyterian Church, 1050 Fremont Avenue, South Pasadena, is offering programs and events for all ages during the summer months.
The Wednesday Night Ladies Group will continue meeting from 7 to 8 p.m. through July 27.
Calvary folk will gather at the Garfield Park Summer Concert on July 31 for an ice cream social and a night of classic rock music. Family picnics are encouraged.
