Suspects Named In Million Dollar Jewelry Heist

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -- Police have identified three suspects in a pair of violent, armed robberies at Gwinnett County jewelry stores.

Officers told Channel 2’s Kerry Kavanaugh that tips came pouring into their office when surveillance videos of the robberies appeared on Channel 2 Action News in March.

Kavanaugh obtained arrest warrants on Monday showing that police are looking for Simone Simon, 33, and Nicholas Moss, 31. A third suspect, Terrence Talley, 28, is already in custody.

The video showed four men storming into Tara Jewelers in Buford armed with hammers and handguns. The robbers ordered everyone to the floor and one suspect was hit in the head with a hammer. The suspects then smashed display cases and took off with $1 million in jewelry and watches, police said.

Police said the same men also robbed Barron’s Fine Jewelry in Snellville one month earlier and also used hammers and guns to take $20,000 in merchandise from that store.

Buddy Anderson, co-owner of Tara Jewelers, told Kavanaugh it's been a long road getting back to normal, but now that the police have named suspects, he feels some relief.

“We're so appreciative of all the man hours the police have put in. It's a tremendous amount of work," Anderson said.

Police told Kavanaugh they arrested Talley about a week ago, and they are actively searching for Moss and Simon. They have not identified the fourth man on the tape.

Gwinnett County Police said they worked with several other agencies to crack the case including Atlanta Police, Snellville Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.

Police said they have only recovered a fraction of the items stolen from the stores.
